Shipping internationally means your items must pass through Belize Customs. Below is an overview of what you need to know before shipping with Cayo Cargo.

Customs & Duty Information

⚠️ Important Rules

Underclaimed commercial items will not be cleared through customs.

All items must include an invoice for customs clearance.

Incorrect or incomplete declarations can cause delays, fines, or confiscation.

💰 Customs Charges

When your items arrive in Belize, customs duties and taxes are applied. These generally include:

  • 12.5% GST (General Sales Tax)

  • 3% Environmental Tax (ET)

  • Import Duty and Revenue Replacement Duty is calculated by customs depending on the type of goods and their value

For personal items, Cayo Cargo negotiates with customs to keep charges between 20% – 35%, whenever possible.

For vehicles and commercial items, duty rates are calculated differently and are generally higher.

What This Means for You

Always provide an accurate list of your items and their values.
